2	cups	cornmeal
1	tablespoon	all-purpose flour
1	teaspoon	soda
1	teaspoon	baking powder
2	teaspoons	salt
1	cup	buttermilk
1		Egg - slightly beaten
2	tablespoons	finely chopped onion

Combine dry ingredients; add buttermilk, egg and onion, stirring well. Carefully drop batter by tablespoonfuls into deep hot oil; cook only a few at a time, turning once.
