2	cups	cornmeal
2	tablespoons	shortening
1 1/2	cups	boiling water
1/2	teaspoon	soda
1	cup	buttermilk
2		Eggs
2	teaspoons	baking powder
1	teaspoon	salt

Mix cornmeal and shortening. Pour boiling water over the mixture, stirring briskly. Add balance of ingredients and beat thoroughly. Pour into a hot well greased pan and dust with flour.
